image1920’s New York glamour, easy jazz and epic rock music, and excellent food and drinks, Hell’s Kitchen is a getaway from the trendy masses and a space to just be you.

It’s all live music on the weekends, a saloon -style menu, an impressive selection of wines, whiskeys, drinks and cocktails, and a secret room behind the bookcase to escape that one annoying friend.

Come for dinner, after-work drinks or an all-out party – just get on your tattoos on, leave your wife-beater at home and rock out with us in dimly lit style.

The Hell’s Kitchen Story

Inspired by both the New York’s 1920 speakeasy era and rock music through the ages, Hell’s Kitchen in Melville, Johannesburg, is a space for great food, epic music, awesome company and a little bit of attitude.

Established in 2014, the founders wanted to create a space that broke free from the ‘trendy’ nightlife in Johannesburg and offer something a little different – a place for everyone to just be themselves and have a great time.

Built from the ground up with blood, sweat and tears, Hell’s Kitchen is a mix-up of old and new-age glamour, rock music from Nina Simone to Nirvana, and unique people. The focus is on food that is unpretentious but fresh and exceptional, with two talented young chefs frequently mixing up the menu, and even the bread is baked on-site (seriously, try the bread – it’s amazing).

Vintage leather couches, interesting things to see wherever you look, music you want to listen to, and great people all around, Hell’s Kitchen is simply a mash-up of all the awesome things in life.

If John Morrissey and Ronnie Dio came to Melville, this is where they would have a drink.
